Within the heart of London’s St Pancras Station, Reserving Workplace 1869 is situated within the King’s Cross space. The hotelier Harry Handelsman referred to as on the Franco-Mexican architect Hugo Toro (designer of the Gigi eating places in Paris, Ramatuelle, and Val d’Isère) to create this bar-restaurant nestled in the heart of a winter garden in the former ticket office of the station. A 22-meter bar made from turquoise ceramics – found particularly in the Sinai Peninsula, in southwestern Egypt – is punctuated with brass suspensions, completed by a crimson pink flooring and gigantic palm timber. The colours and shades of ochre and gold distinction superbly with the bluish tones evocative of Egypt. Booking Workplace 1869 and its warm environment take us on a journey between London and the remainder of the world.
