ALL THE FASHION IN AN ARTIST’S RESIDENCE

At 26 by way of Montenapoleone in Milan, the brand new Marni store is an ode to travel.

Francesco Risso, the brand’s inventive director, created an progressive undertaking in close collaboration with Marni’s advertising director, Chungaiz Khan Mumtaz, and the London studios Brinkworth and The Wilson Brothers.

The three-story flagship is adorned with silver mirrors, its ceramic tiles reflecting the carpet in several shades of blue. Neon lights in incandescent cold steel tones add distinction.

This place appears like a time machine and hosts a small cocoon of creativity. The objective? To create a dialogue between architecture and sculpture. This “artistic vessel” that features as a workshop shall be provided to totally different artists of the Marni group. Outfitted with windows, guests can peek inside and observe the artist in motion. This ephemeral studio might be modified by the artist; the panels may be painted, as can the floors, allowing each occupant of the vessel to personalize their surroundings. The first artist to take up residence within the Milan store is New York-based artist Shoplifter, who represented Iceland at the 2019 Venice Biennale.
