Marjan van Aubel is a designer of a unique type. The award-winning Dutch designer has made photo voltaic power her battleground. Her objective? To make it fascinating for the greatest number of individuals, to integrate it into the guts of the house, by bringing it from our roofs to our dwelling rooms. Her newest feat is a tapestry made from coloured photovoltaic cells. Referred to as “Ra,” after the ancient Egyptian solar god, this creation was designed to be hung in a window to seize the sunlight. When the solar goes down, a circle provides again a mushy mild saved all through the day. A course of that uses third-generation know-how: “Ra” is provided with a battery related to a sheet of electroluminescent paper less than a millimeter thick.&

This is not Marjan van Aubel’s first try. Before she dressed the roof of the Dutch pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai, the designer made a reputation for herself with “Energy Plant,” an answer to food shortages with a solar-powered greenhouse. The identical system was used for “Current Table,” a desk, again outfitted together with her well-known photo voltaic panels, which permits us to recharge our cell phones. Her talent and innovations have earned her a place within the permanent collections of MoMA, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Vitra Design Museum.
